This help will enable farmers to resume farming and strengthen their economic position.
What is Agricultural Input Subsidy Scheme?
Under the Agricultural Input Subsidy Scheme, farmers get financial help for crop loss due to natural disasters. This includes both Rabi and Kharif crops. Under this scheme, a farmer family (consisting of husband, wife and minor children) is entitled to get assistance for a maximum of 2 hectares (494 decimals) of land. Family information is verified through Aadhaar.
Farmers can apply for compensation for the loss of only one crop at a time under this scheme. This includes losses to crops like wheat, Rabi pulses, maize, vegetables, sugarcane, perennial crops and medicinal and aromatic plants.
Other farmers will also get help soon
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said that crops have been damaged in about 13 districts of Bihar due to storm and rain. The amount of assistance will soon be released to those farmers whose accounts have not yet received money.
