Will Nitin Naveen’s Punjab tour change BJP’s fortunes? Party will work on this strategy

Bharatiya Janata Party has now started working in the state regarding the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Party national president Nitin Naveen himself visited the state. Before this, several rounds of talks had taken place among the leaders in Delhi. During this tour, Bharatiya Janata Party also presented before the public a glimpse of its strategy for the upcoming elections in the state. The party has made it clear that it will contest alone on all 117 seats. However, many senior leaders within the party are still in favor of the alliance but the party has made its stand clear.

During Nitin Naveen’s Punjab tour, along with the traditional three pictures, a fourth picture was also seen on the stage for the first time. This fourth picture further hints at the upcoming strategy of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Along with the appointment of the new president, BJP has put forward the model of Maharaja Ranjit Singh i.e. Sher-e-Punjab to form its government. His photographs are now being kept with the traditional photographs of BJP.

Khalsa Raj

Sikh population is majority in Punjab and BJP was till now considered a non-Sikh party and a party of Hindus. Usually, even in Punjab, the party’s platform used to have pictures of party founder Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Bharat Mata, but this time they also kept the picture of the great Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh on the stage. With this, BJP is giving the message of a Sikh rule and good governance. Similarly, Aam Aadmi Party had strengthened its hold in Punjab by putting the face of Bhagat Singh in front. Through Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the party is trying to attract Panthak Sikh votes.

Many meanings of one meeting

During this visit, Nitin Naveen met agricultural economist and Padma Bhushan Dr. Sardar Singh Johal. His name is included among the leading agricultural economists of the country. This may seem like an ordinary meeting but many political meanings are being inferred from it. Following the controversial agricultural laws of 2020 and the subsequent agitation, a large section of farmers have turned against the party. BJP is facing opposition from farmers. In such a situation, through this meeting the party has tried to give a message among the farmers. Farmers play an important role in the politics of Punjab.
