Bhubaneswar: Odisha para badminton players Akash Ranjan Mund and Bibhasindhu Barik have done the state and country proud by winning six medals at the World Abilitysport Youth Games which concluded at Mersin, Turkey, on June 22.
Akash clinched gold medal in Men’s Singles (SL3) and Mixed Doubles (SL3-SU5), besides bagging silver medal in Men’s Doubles (SL3-SU5).
Bibhasindhu also collected three medals. He produced a gold-medal performance in Men’s Doubles (SL3-SU5), and also claimed silver in Men’s Singles (SL3) and bronze in Mixed Doubles (SL3-SU5).
The Odisha duo’s glittering show contributed to India’s dominant performance in the World Abilitysport Youth Games.
The total haul by Indian athletes was 27 medals, which included 15 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze.
