IPL 2027: Big bet of Lucknow Super Giants, former Kerala player appointed batting coach
Delhi: Before the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has taken a big step. The team has completed the trade related to Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav, which has also been approved by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). After this decision, a big change is being seen in the structure and strategy of the team.
G Jayakumar will become the new batting coach
To strengthen their batting, Lucknow Super Giants have decided to appoint former Kerala player G Jayakumar as their batting coach. He can join the team soon and will especially work on preparing young Indian batsmen.
The current coaching setup of the team is working under the leadership of Tom Moody (Cricket Director), Justin Langer (Head Coach) and Bharat Arun (Bowling Coach). At the same time, questions remain regarding the future of Lance Klusener.
Young players will get foreign training
Lucknow plans to send some young Indian batsmen to Perth, Australia, where they will train with Justin Langer. These include players like Himmat Singh, Mukul Chaudhary, Akshat Raghuvanshi, Abdul Samad, Ayush Badoni and Arshin Kulkarni.
After this these players will go to Chennai, where G Jayakumar will work with them on batting technique. Jayakumar is known for grooming players and has also helped in the development of batsmen like Sai Sudarshan.
The financial position of the team became stronger
After the Pant-Kuldeep trade, the purse of Lucknow Super Giants has increased by approximately Rs 23 crore. This includes the trade amount and savings from the previous season. Now the team can enter the next auction with a stronger budget.
It is noteworthy that this move of Lucknow Super Giants clearly shows that the franchise is focusing on long-term team building. Training of young players abroad and appointment of a new batting coach is a strategy to strengthen the batting. However, the impact of a big trade like Pant-Kuldeep can be immediately visible on the team balance.
