The French Football Federation (FFF) revealed on Tuesday that due to his mother’s death, France coach Didier Deschamps won’t be present for the final France vs Norway FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage game. Since he left the base camp of France’s World Cup team to participate in the burial, the 57-year-old will not be present on the pitch when Les Bleus complete their Group I campaign at the weekend. Afterward, the French Football Federation in a press release confirmed that Deschamps would be handing over his duties temporarily and assistant coach Guy Stephan would be directing the team till his return.

The FFF said in a statement, “Didier Deschamps will not be able to oversee training sessions ahead of the Norway v France match.
