US Senate passes resolution against Iran war: Trump asked to stop military action
Washington, June 24. US President Donald Trump has suffered a major political setback amid ongoing negotiations on a peace agreement with Iran. In fact, the Senate on Tuesday passed the ‘War Powers Resolution’, which is related to the powers of the US President. Its purpose is to stop the US Army’s military action against Iran.
The proposal calls for withdrawal of troops deployed in the Iran conflict until Parliament orders military action. This proposal was passed by 50-48 votes. This was the 10th time the Senate had attempted to prevent war with Iran. Earlier this month, the proposal also got approval from the US House of Representatives.
This is the first time since the War Powers Act of 1973 that both houses of the US Congress have demanded a President end war-like actions. Four Republican lawmakers also supported the Democrats during the voting, which also revealed the growing rebellion within Trump’s party. However, the White House has said that this proposal will have no legal effect and the US military action has already ended.
Trump’s anger erupted, he also scolded Republican Party members
At present, Trump’s anger erupted over the resolution passed in the US Senate. He also slammed four Republican MPs who have supported the proposal. He accused the Senate of giving benefits to enemies. He reacted to this by posting on his social truth. Trump described the Senate’s decision as a ‘bad decision’ taken at the ‘wrong time’. He said that in a way it is like helping Iran.
Trump responded to social truth
“I put Iran in a ‘vulnerable’ position, ready to collapse, ready to give us almost anything, and very respectful of America and its President for the first time in decades, when the US Senate decided to vote at an ill-timed and meaningless War Powers Act, sending a message to the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism that America does not like the way I treat them and I have to stop it,” Trump posted on Twitter.

He further wrote, ‘By doing this he has provided aid and support to the enemy. The four defeated Republican lawmakers voted with the Democrats and Iran asked my people, ‘What does this mean?’ These senators have made my job more difficult, but I will get it done no matter what, because I always get my job done!’
Marco Rubio reached Kuwait to address the concerns of Gulf countries.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has visited UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait. Their aim is to allay the concerns of the Gulf countries regarding the US-Iran agreement. These countries fear that the agreement may increase Iran’s influence in the Strait of Hormuz. Besides, questions are also being raised due to the absence of any clear conditions on Iran’s missile program in the agreement.

It is noteworthy that in the ongoing talks between America and Iran, a possible fund of $300 billion for the reconstruction of Iran is also being discussed. It is believed that economic cooperation can be sought from Gulf countries in this. In such a situation, Washington is trying to garner support from its allies.
