New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) to establish the NHAI Center for Economics of Transportation, Mobility and Logistics.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the new center will function as a dedicated platform for undertaking applied economic research in the areas of transportation, mobility and logistics. It aims to generate actionable insights to support long-term planning, investment decisions and policy formulation in the road and transport sector.

The Ministry said the center will also serve as a knowledge hub for the transportation sector by disseminating research findings through policy briefs, working papers and flagship reports.

An Advisory Committee comprising leading economists, transportation specialists, public policy experts and eminent academics will guide the centre. NHAI’s Member (Finance) and the Director General of NCAER will also be part of the committee.
