ICC Ranking: Shubman Gill becomes world number-2 in ODI ranking, where are Kohli-Rohit?

International Cricket Council (ICC) has updated the rankings. Indian captain Shubman Gill has gained 3 places in the ODI rankings for batsmen. Shubman has become world number-2. He is just 24 rating points behind the top-ranked Darryl Mitchell of New Zealand. Shubman has recently performed tremendously in the ODI series against Afghanistan. He scored unbeaten 84 runs in the first ODI, while he scored 154 runs in the second ODI.

 

Shubman did not bat in the third ODI. Ishan Kishan has jumped 21 places. He has reached 43rd position. Ishaan also defeated the Afghans badly in the ODI. Indian bowlers have also been rewarded for their good performance. Arshdeep Singh has moved up 16 places to 22nd, Prasidh Krishna has moved up 34 places to 58th and all-rounder Washington Sundar has moved up 17 places to joint 71st.

Where are Rohit-Kohli?

Virat Kohli could not play in the series against Afghanistan due to muscle strain. Due to this he suffered loss and he has slipped to third place. Kohli has been selected in the team for the ODI series against England but he will have to prove his fitness. Rohit Sharma remains at fourth position. Shreyas Iyer has moved up one place to 14th, while KL Rahul has slipped two places to 11th.

Big change in test ranking

New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry has equaled Jasprit Bumrah in the rankings of Test bowlers. Henry, who took 10 wickets in New Zealand’s 253-run win in the second Test against England, has equal points with Bumrah and is jointly at number one position. For the first time in 36 years, after Jack Cowie and Richard Hadlee, a New Zealand fast bowler has reached the top. England’s acting captain Joe Root has again become the number-1 Test batsman.
