Awaiting formal statement from the government

However, this invitation has not been confirmed yet by the government. The funeral of Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, will begin on July 4 and conclude with his burial on July 9 in the holy city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran. Mashhad was also his hometown.

Iran’s 86-year-old leader died on February 28, the first day of Israel and America’s air strikes on Tehran. He served as the supreme leader of Iran for 36 years. His funeral could not take place at that time because there was a war going on between the three countries. The funeral procession will take place on July 4 with a farewell ceremony at the Grand Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tehran.

The ritual will start from 4th July

The main funeral procession in Tehran is scheduled for July 6, during which the martyred leader will be joined by four other martyrs—Dr. The bodies of Mesbah-ol-Hoda Bagheri, Seyyida Bushra Husseini Khamenei, Zahra Haddad Adel and Zahra Mohammadi Golpaygani—will also be transported. Funeral ceremonies will be held in the holy city of Qom on July 7, where prayers will be offered over the supreme leader’s body.
