Will Hardik Pandya leave Mumbai Indians? KKR increased the stir by luring the captaincy
New Delhi .After the high profile trade of Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav in the Indian Premier League, now the most talked about thing is about Hardik Pandya. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has once again become the biggest name in the IPL trade market. The continuous reports have created a stir in the cricket world and now Kolkata Knight Riders has also joined the race. It is reported that KKR has not only expressed its desire to include Hardik Pandya in its team but has also offered him captaincy.
Since the conclusion of IPL 2026, speculations regarding Hardik Pandya’s future had intensified. After taking over the captaincy of Mumbai Indians, the team’s performance was not as expected. Out of the last three seasons, two seasons were very disappointing for Mumbai. In such a situation, discussions started that everything is not going well between Hardik and the franchise. Incidents of follow and unfollow on social media further fueled these speculations.
Earlier there were reports that Hardik Pandya and Yashasvi Jaiswal could be exchanged between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. However, now Kolkata Knight Riders have made a new entry in this matter. According to reports, KKR management wants to make Hardik the face of its team and for this it has also started initial talks with Mumbai Indians.
According to sources, Kolkata Knight Riders believe that an experienced all-rounder and successful captain like Hardik Pandya can give a new direction to the team. In the last two seasons, Ajinkya Rahane took over the responsibility of captaincy but the team could not get the success that was expected. In such a situation, KKR seems to be in a mood for a big change.
Reports also claim that Kolkata does not want to limit itself to player exchange only. The franchise is also considering an all cash deal. However, it is not yet clear whether Mumbai Indians will prefer a direct financial deal or will consider releasing Hardik in exchange for a player.
According to IPL rules, to send a player to another team, the consent of the player concerned is required. There may be talks between the franchises but the final decision is possible only after the approval of the player. If the player rejects the proposed trade he may have to go into the auction pool.
The name of Rajasthan Royals is also in the news regarding the possible future of Hardik Pandya. If there is a trade between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Hardik Pandya, then it is considered to be a beneficial deal for both the teams. Mumbai will get a young and explosive opener while Rajasthan may get an experienced all-rounder and potential captain.
At present, the eyes of cricket fans are fixed on which team’s jersey Hardik Pandya will be seen wearing in the next season. If this trade is completed then it could be included in the most talked about and biggest deals in IPL history.
