Rule made in England for Vaibhav Suryavanshi! Will play matches with Team India, but the dressing room will be completely different
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Separate Dressing Room: 15-year-old left-handed batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has left his mark with his brilliant and forceful batting, will now be given a separate dressing room during India’s five-match T20 series against England. This step has been taken to ensure compliance with important rules related to the safety of children.
For Vaibhav Suryavanshi, this protocol is in line with the strict under-16 safety guidelines set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Permission to go to the dressing room during the meeting
Under the rules, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is allowed access to the main Indian team dressing room for technical team meetings, strategy discussions and match day talks. He will use a separate dressing room to change at the venue during all five T20 matches.
The ECB said, “The Cricket Regulator is in contact with the Team Liaison Officer of the Indian team to discuss the needs and expectations of the players during their stay in the UK.”
Parents will also accompany Vaibhav on tour
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s parents will stay with him throughout the UK tour. They will stay in official hotels of the team. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devjit Saikia had earlier said that he would fully sponsor the travel and accommodation expenses of Vaibhav’s parents.
The ECB further said, ‘In our understanding the player’s parents will accompany him at all times. They are staying in the same hotel, which is outside of normal protocol, but this time it was agreed upon because of his age. This extra step gives us more confidence that he has family members who can provide him with additional support and care.”

It has not been revealed yet whether similar restrictions will be implemented during India’s 2-match T20 series against Ireland. Such separate protocols are common in European football, where underage athletes such as Arsenal’s Max Dowman had to use separate changing rooms until they turned 16. However, Suryavanshi has previously shared the dressing room with his team-mates in Bihar, Rajasthan Royals and India A in the IPL.
