Taratala Warehouse Collapse: 4 People Died, Searching is Still Underway
Taratala Warehouse Collapse: A massive accident has happened in Taratala area of Kolkata, West Bengal. The roof of a warehouse under construction collapsed, killing many workers. The administration is working with war-like urgency. Even the army has joined the rescue efforts. So far, 4 people have been reported dead. Many are injured. However, there are fears that the number of dead and injured could rise further.
As per reports, On Wednesday, the roof of a warehouse under construction in Kolkata’s Taratala area suddenly collapsed. This horrific accident has forever devastated the lives of many poor families. Dozens of workers were trapped under the massive pile of debris. Their heartbreaking cries and groans could be heard clearly outside. The sight of such a tragic scene brought tears to the eyes of everyone present. Rescue teams have so far pulled 21 people from the debris. Three of these workers succumbed to their injuries.
The remaining 18 injured are being treated at Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital. The condition of three workers remains critical. Upon receiving information about the incident, teams from the Army, NDRF, and Fire Brigade arrived at the scene. The rescue operation is underway at full strength and on a war footing. Those trapped under the debris are pleading for help. Their helpless families are crying for their loved ones outside, desperately crying for their loved ones.
Given the magnitude of the accident, the Indian Army’s Eastern Command was immediately called in to assist. The NDRF, fire brigade, and police are also fully engaged in relief work. Cranes and gas cutters are carefully cutting through heavy iron and concrete. Vertical drilling techniques are being used to create a safe path through the debris.
The precise location of those trapped is being determined using sniffer dogs and advanced drones. Brave army personnel have also established contact with some of those trapped in the debris. Kolkata Police and disaster management teams are constantly encouraging them. The soldiers have assured them that they will be safely evacuated soon. Every soldier is working tirelessly to rescue the workers, regardless of their own lives.

As per CM Suvendu Adhikary, ‘Deeply pained and saddened by the tragic loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction warehouse building near Brace Bridge in Taratala, where several workers got trapped beneath the debris. So far 21 people have been pulled out of the collapsed structure, out of which 18 are injured and 3 people have lost their lives.
Words fail to express my sorrow for the precious lives lost in this tragedy. My deepest condolences go out to their bereaved families. The State Government stands firmly with them in this hour of unimaginable grief and we will extend all possible support to them. Rescue and relief operations are currently being carried out on a war footing. The Army, NDRF, SDRF, Kolkata Police and KMC are jointly conducting the rescue operations to ensure every trapped worker is brought to safety as quickly as possible. I pray for the quick recovery of those who got injured.
I have instructed the UDMA Department to closely coordinate the entire operation. MoS Dr. Indranil Khan is already present at the site and is personally supervising the ongoing rescue efforts.
