Three Injured in Stampede at Ranchi T20 League Match

Indian Cricket authorities were put in the spot once again as there was massive chaos ahead of the Jharkhand T20 Final game on Tuesday. Reports suggest that a huge crowd had come to watch the finale, which led to chaos. Many fans had come via the western gate of the stadium, which saw the local law enforcement having to be called.

The entire incident began when there was a massive outpouring of fans pushing each other in a bid to reach the ground. There were a few minor injuries reported as well during the entire melee. Just as the situation was getting out of hand, thepolice were called up to try to control the situation.

Once the local law personnel arrived, they called for more backup, and the order was finally restored. With the police force in place, the fans made it to the stadium safely to watch the game. Ranchi’s SSP Rakesh Ranjan was quoted by India Today as saying, “Only one gate was open for public entry, which caused a sudden surge in the crowd. The slow pace of security frisking led to significant pressure from the public outside, and the crowd became unruly for a brief period”

“We stepped in and brought the situation under control. Some people sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment. To my knowledge, four or five individuals were hurt. The situation is now calm and under control,” further said Mr. Ranjan.

In 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had decided to celebrate their maiden IPL title win after beating Punjab Kings in the finals. An unexpected huge turnout of fans had caused a stampede, which saw 11 people lose their lives. This year, the franchise refrained from celebrations of any sort after winning its second successive title.
