Delhi EV Hub : Ties up with 10 government companies; The country’s largest EV charging network will be set up in Delhi’s parking lots
- Creation of Mega Charging Hub
- Battery swapping facility
- Tight security system
Delhi MCD EV charging hub 2026 : Currently, electric vehicles in India (EV) craze seems to be growing exponentially. Citizens are now turning to EVs in large numbers as a means of reducing pollution as well as being affordable to the pocket. If you look at the number of electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers plying the roads today, it is clear how much people have grown to believe in this technology. But, along with this increasing number, there is always one fear in the mind of EV drivers ‘what to do if the car suddenly runs out of charge during the journey?’ Not getting charging stations on time or having long queues there is a big problem. If you have the same anxiety, now you will get rid of this headache forever.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has come up with a very ambitious and comforting scheme for electric vehicle drivers in the capital. MCD is now gearing up to set up massive EV charging hubs in Delhi’s major metro stations, congested main markets and parking lots of large commercial complexes. This new project will completely change the face of charging infrastructure in Delhi, allowing motorists to charge their vehicles with ease and speed.
No more queuing for charging!
Currently if we look at most small charging stations only two or three charging points are available. Due to this, drivers have to wait in long queues for hours for their numbers. No one can afford to waste this time when they are in a rush for work. Recognizing this problem, MCD has planned a new hub. The biggest feature of this new mega hub is that more than 25 charging points will be set up under one roof.

This modern center will have the best facility to charge both Two-Wheelers and Four-Wheelers at the same time. To make this mega project a success, MCD has started talks with around 10 reputed government companies, some of which have directly shown interest in developing gigantic hubs with 27 to 30 charging points.
Replace the battery in minutes and hit the road!
Currently, the roads of Delhi and other major cities of the country are largely dominated by electric two-wheelers i.e. scooters and bikes. From delivery boys to office goers, many people use e-scooters. Special hi-tech facility of ‘battery swapping’ will be provided at these new centers to save valuable time of these drivers.
The biggest advantage of this facility is that you don’t need to park your car for charging. You will go directly to this station, deposit your discharged (dead) battery there and drive away with a new fully charged battery in your car within minutes. This process, which takes a few minutes, will not only save time, but will also eliminate travel bottlenecks. Both fast and slow charging facilities will be available for the customers as per their needs.

Strict security measures to protect against theft and vandalism
This project is not only temporary but is being set up as a part of long-term planning keeping in mind the growing need of the future. These are not just simple charging points but they are going to be large-scale integrated hubs. In this huge investment is being made by the government and companies and very expensive and advanced equipment is being installed.
MCD is taking strict steps to protect all these centers to avoid any security issue. Special fencing will be installed around this hub and 24-hour security guards will be deployed to prevent theft of expensive equipment or vandalism by miscreants. At present around 470 charging and swapping stations are operational in Delhi, but this new mega plan of MCD is sure to transform the EV universe in Delhi once it is fully implemented.
