Venezuela earthquake: Two powerful earthquakes that occurred in the northern part of Venezuela on Wednesday shook the entire country. These tremors of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude have caused huge devastation. So far, 920 people have been confirmed dead, while more than 3,000 people are said to be injured. According to relief agencies, thousands of people are still missing and rescue operations are ongoing.

Every passing moment has become extremely precious for the families searching for their loved ones amidst the cities that have been reduced to the debris of skyscrapers. However, amidst this terrible tragedy, some such stories have also come to light, which have brought tears to people’s eyes and have awakened a new ray of hope.

18 day old newborn gave birth to life from under the debris

Dayana Patino and her 18-day-old son were buried under the debris after an eight-storey building collapsed in La Guaira city. Trapped under the heavy debris, Dayana kept holding her child close to her chest, but she was not even able to feed him milk.

Merli Adreina Quitero, a volunteer involved in the rescue operation, said that the team had been searching for him for about 12 hours and hope was almost lost. But on Thursday morning suddenly the sound of a child crying was heard from inside the debris. After this, the rescue team launched a rapid operation and rescued the mother and son safely at around 1 am on Friday. The most surprising thing was that despite such a big accident, both the mother and the child did not suffer any serious injuries. Currently both are being treated in a hospital in Caracas.

After 24 hours, 4 year old child came out of the debris, said- ‘I am fine’

After a seven-story apartment building collapsed in La Guaira, Jose Alberto Gallipoli searched for his son, daughter-in-law and four-year-old grandson. He was in the capital Caracas at the time of the incident, but as soon as he got the news of the accident, he covered a distance of about 20 miles and reached the affected area on foot. Standing amidst the debris, Jose continued calling his son’s name. Then they heard a very faint sound from under the debris. It was the voice of his son Joffram. Rescue workers immediately launched the operation and carefully carved a narrow path through the debris.

The family, trapped under the debris without food, water and electricity for nearly 24 hours, was finally pulled out safely. The first to come out was a four year old innocent boy who said smilingly, I am fine. After this his parents were also taken out safely. The family members hugging each other was an emotional moment for everyone present there.

This devastating earthquake in Venezuela has changed the lives of thousands of families. Relief and rescue teams are continuously searching for people trapped under the debris. Hopes are weakening with every passing hour, but these stories of people coming out alive from the debris are proving that the battle of life is fought till the last breath.
