Suniel Shetty backs Ranveer Singh amid ‘Don 3’ controversy
A fresh statement from Indian actor Suniel Shetty added to the ongoing discussion surrounding Don 3as he spoke in support of actor Ranveer Singh during the recent controversy linked to the film.
While speaking to Times NowSuniel said that no individual or organisation had the authority to ban an actor or artistic work. He said, “Nobody can ban an actor, nobody can ban art. Nobody has the right to. The Supreme Court will throw out the matter in a second.”
He also spoke about both Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar, saying he believed they were sensible people who could resolve the matter through discussion.
Backing Ranveer Singh, Suniel said, “Who are you to ban? Try and understand that this kid has given you 3 and half thousand crore revenue to the industry… Why would you want to ban him? If you ban something that people want to watch, what exactly are you trying to achieve?”
The comments came after reports claimed that Ranveer Singh had stepped away from Don 3. Reports also said that Excel Entertainment had sought compensation over losses linked to the film’s pre-production.
The issue later became a topic of discussion after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor.

Ranveer Singh’s legal team had opposed the move and stated that the federation did not have the legal authority to impose such a directive.
The dispute was later resolved through mediation by IMPPA, following which FWICE withdrew its order earlier this month.
As of now, the makers of Don 3 have not announced a new cast for the film, and the project has remained on hold.
