Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been living with his parents, Salim Khan and Salma Khan, at Mumbai’s prime location at Galaxy Apartments for decades. More than just a residence, Galaxy Apartments holds immense sentimental and emotional value for the Khan family. It has witnessed Salman’s rise to stardom, family celebrations, media interactions and countless memorable moments over the years.

For fans, Galaxy Apartments has become a landmark, with thousands gathering outside the building every year hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor during festivals and special occasions.

However, the family’s security has become a growing concern in recent years. In April 2024, two bike-borne men allegedly linked to the Bishnoi gang opened fire outside Galaxy Apartments. Following the incident, Salman enhanced the security of his home by installing bulletproof glass around the open balcony. The actor currently enjoys Y+ security cover.

Now, reports suggest that Salman Khan and his family have received approval to construct a new six-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Bandra. However, there is no official confirmation that the actor plans to move out of Galaxy Apartments.

According to reports, the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) approved the project on June 16. The new residential building will come up in Bandra’s Chimbai area, just a few hundred metres from Galaxy Apartments, where Salman has lived since 1974.

The plot is registered in the name of Salman’s mother, Salma Khan. It was purchased by the Khan family in 2011 after changing hands multiple times. A two-storey bungalow that stood on the property, dating back to before 1956, was later demolished after it was declared structurally unsafe.

The approved project includes a ground floor, stilt parking and six upper floors, with a total built-up area of approximately 1,014 square metres. The redevelopment will be undertaken by Sach Developers under Regulation 33(16) of the Development Control and Promotion Regulations (DCPR) 2034.

As part of the environmental conditions attached to the approval, no existing trees on the property will be cut. Instead, indigenous tree species will be planted around the site and in recreational areas.

The new property is located on a quieter lane away from the main road, a setting expected to offer the Khan family greater privacy and enhanced security.
