Mumbai Police Has foiled a big conspiracy. He has detained a person from whom thousands of poisonous capsules have been recovered. According to the police, the accused was allegedly planning to distribute these capsules among the people during the Muharram procession.
Police said that the accused has been identified as Faiyaz Premji, resident of Viman Nagar, Pune. He runs a paint business and was living in a guest house and dormitory in Dongri area of Mumbai.
According to the investigating agencies, the Muharram procession which was allegedly targeted was J.J. And was going to pass through Byculla area..
What has been known so far?
- Investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly purchased about 50 kg of zinc phosphide. Police say that this poisonous substance was filled in the capsule. It has been revealed that each capsule contains about 1 gram of poison.
- According to the police, the accused was planning to prepare about 30 thousand capsules, but by taking timely action, 14,900 capsules were recovered. Officials claim that if this material had reached people, it could have caused huge loss.
- The matter came to light when the police received information at around 4 in the morning that a person had complained of vomiting and stomach ache. After this the police took the accused into custody and interrogated him. Police claim that during interrogation he admitted to targeting the procession.
- A case has been registered against the accused under sections 109, 110 and 123 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). These include sections like poisoning, attempt to murder and serious criminal conspiracy. The police is now also investigating whether the accused did this work alone or some other network or organization is involved behind it.
- The mobile phone, digital records, financial transactions and contacts of the accused are being examined.
- According to the investigating agencies, the accused has traveled to Iran and Iraq 19 times between 2019 and 2025. The police are now also investigating the purpose of these trips and any possible connection.
- Police said that the accused’s sister is a physiotherapist in Iran and his mother also lives there. The accused is divorced.
- Officials say that the matter is being investigated from all possible aspects.
DCP Central Zone-I, Jayant Meena said that a Muharram procession was taking place in the Byculla Police Station area last night. During the procession, a suspicious person was seen distributing and selling capsules. Upon suspicion, Mumbai Police patrolling team interrogated him and seized the stock of capsules from him.
Jayant Meena said that during interrogation, the accused confessed that he had specifically targeted the Muharram procession and his intention was to harm the people participating in it. He told that he had ordered a total of 30,000 empty capsules and 50 kg of zinc phosphide, which is a very poisonous substance.
