Nirjala Ekadashi Fast 2026: There is immense enthusiasm among devotees and especially women regarding the holy Nirjala Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. In Sanatan Dharma, it is considered one of the most important and difficult Ekadashis of the year. It is believed that by fasting on this day with devotion and regularly, one gets the same virtuous results as all the 24 Ekadashis of the year.

According to Astrologer Dr. Arvind Mishra, Ekadashi Tithi will start at 6:12 pm on June 24 and will continue till 8:09 pm on June 25. Based on Udaya Tithi, Nirjala Ekadashi fast will be observed on 25th June.

One gets virtue equal to 24 Ekadashis-
According to religious beliefs, the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. By observing fast without consuming water on this day, the seeker gets the virtue of all Ekadashis. Women observe this fast with the wish of family happiness, prosperity, children’s welfare and unbroken good fortune.

However, experts say that people suffering from serious illness, diabetes or health related problems should not observe water fast without medical advice.

The most difficult but most fruitful fast-
Astrologer Dr. Poonam Varshney tells that Nirjala Ekadashi is also called “Saini Ekadashi”. On this day, worship of Lord Vishnu, chanting, penance and charity have special significance. Donating items that provide relief to people in the scorching heat is considered extremely virtuous.

What to donate on Nirjala Ekadashi?

What to offer to Lord Vishnu?
On the day of Nirjala Ekadashi, it is considered auspicious to offer Tulsi leaves, yellow flowers, sandalwood, Akshat, Panchamrit, seasonal fruits and naivedya to Lord Vishnu. During the puja, Shri Hari is worshiped by lighting a ghee lamp.

Nirjala Ekadashi puja method-
Wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath.
Wear clean clothes and take a pledge to fast.
Clean the place of worship and install the idol of Lord Vishnu.
Abhishekam with Panchamrit.
Offer basil leaves, yellow flowers, sandalwood, incense-lamp and naivedya.
Recite Vishnu Sahasranama, Vishnu Chalisa and Vrat Katha.
Perform Aarti of Lord Vishnu.
Donate an earthen pot filled with water.
Remember God and do bhajan-kirtan throughout the day.
Next day, after the puja, perform the ritualistic Parana.

There is a religious belief that a fast observed on this auspicious day with devotion, restraint and a sense of service paves the way for happiness, prosperity and spiritual progress in a person’s life.
