Kuki organization apologized after the killing of 6 Naga people, when will the fire in Manipur stop?
Whenever there is talk of stopping Manipur caste violence, some major incident happens, due to which violence flares up again. On May 13, six people from the Naga community were kidnapped and murdered. The Kuki community was blamed for these murders. Now, after a month, the Kuki community has apologized to the Naga community for the killing of six Naga hostages.
Expressing regret over the incident, ‘Kuki Jo Council’ president Henlianthang Thanglet on Thursday apologized for the incident and urged for an impartial investigation into all incidents of violence related to the ongoing caste conflict in Manipur.

‘The Cookie-Jo community made a grave mistake’
Speaking to the media at Churachandpur district headquarters, Thanglet said, ‘I accept that the people of the Kuki-Jo community committed a serious mistake by killing six Naga civilians. This was done out of emotion. I strongly condemn this. I am deeply sorry and I apologize on behalf of my community.
Impartial investigation into all incidents of arson and violence
Meanwhile, Kuki Jo Council spokesperson Ginja Wualjong also urged for an impartial investigation into all the incidents of violence including the killing of Naga hostages, the death of 14 Kuki civilians and arson in Kuki villages.

Six people were taken hostage on May 13 from Leelon Vaifei village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. Their bodies were recovered on 10 June near a Kuki-jo village. Kuki organizations have claimed that 14 members of their community were killed and several houses were burnt after clashes broke out between the Kuki and Naga communities in February this year.
