Kohli’s coach became crazy about Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting, said- he deserves debut

Rajkumar Sharma on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: The young player who is being talked about the most in Indian cricket these days is 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. After IPL 2026 and consistent performances for India A, he is now very close to stepping into international cricket. There is an atmosphere of excitement in the cricket world about his possible debut on the Ireland tour.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has also praised the young batsman. He believes that Vaibhav has earned every right to make a place in the Indian team on the basis of his performance and he can become a big name in Indian cricket in the future.

Praising Vaibhav’s batting ability, Rajkumar Sharma said, ‘This is a wonderful achievement by Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He has a unique talent. The way he has beaten all the best bowlers in the world, he deserves a debut. I’m happy for him and wish him all the best.” The kind of performance Vaibhav has performed in the last few months has impressed everyone from selectors to cricket experts. While playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, he scored 776 runs, while also making a new record by scoring a half-century in just 11 balls in the final of the Tri-A Series held in Sri Lanka.

Increased competition for opening slots

There is currently a tough competition for the opening slot in the Indian T20 team. Players like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have already strengthened their claim. In such a situation, the entry of Vaibhav Suryavanshi can become a new challenge for the selectors and team management. Rajkumar Sharma believes that in the current era, almost every batsman wants to open in T20 cricket, because it gives an opportunity to play more balls and score big scores.

On this subject, he said, ‘In T20 cricket, everyone wants to open so that more balls can be played. If we talk about the Indian team or look at local cricket, then as soon as the name of T20 comes, everyone says that they open. This is a headache for the captain and coach. I believe that we will have to keep rotating, so that everyone can get a chance.” According to him, keeping the team composition balanced will be the biggest responsibility of the Indian team management in the times to come.

Thinking changed due to Vaibhav’s success

While sharing an interesting experience, Rajkumar Sharma said that the effect of the success of Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now visible at the grassroots level also. He said that earlier, where parents used to send their children to cricket academy at a slightly older age, now there is a race to enroll children at a very young age. Many parents want their children to achieve great recognition at an early age like Vaibhav.

He said, ‘Very small children have started coming and their parents want to get admission. When a five year old child came to my place to get admission, I said that he is still very small and you should play with him. Put him in coaching when he is eight years old, on this he said that if he gets admission in eight years then how will he become like Vaibhav Suryavanshi. People’s expectations have increased.
