Migrant Workers Salary: Salary of more than 400 employees stopped in Singapore, High Commission helped
Singapore Migrant Workers Salary Issue: A huge and serious crisis has arisen in front of more than 400 Indian and Bangladeshi laborers who have gone to work in Singapore. Three companies named SK Industries, KPA Engineering and VVR Plant Engineering have left the employees without salaries. All these companies have neither paid the workers their months’ hard work nor given them any proper place to live. After this incident came to light, the Indian High Commission intervened with immediate effect and started helping the workers.
The Indian High Commission, along with the National Trades Union Congress and the Ministry of Manpower, is keeping a close watch on this entire situation. According to the report, a common director of these three companies has been fully identified as Indian citizen Ramu Palani Velu. It is believed that Director Ramu, a permanent resident of Singapore, has embezzled the money of all the employees and has fled the country. The government is now investigating the old records and all important documents of these companies in great depth.
Help being given to laborers
For immediate help to all these laborers stranded in Singapore, the concerned officials met them on Wednesday and assured them of all possible help. To provide relief to the workers, SGD200 cash and special shopping vouchers to buy goods from supermarkets are also being given immediately. Along with this, the administration is arranging another safe place for them to live and efforts are also going on to get them new jobs.
Old history of companies
Investigation clearly revealed that Ramu had started his first business KPA Engineering in the year 2014 whose capital was SGD 1 million. After this, in 2019, he started another new company named Comfort Air Engineering with a capital of SGD 100,000. In 2023, it registered SK Industries with a capital of SGD200,000 and in 2025 took over VVR Plant Engineering.
Important game of new permit
VVR Plant Engineering was considered very valuable because it had special work permits to work in places like Jurong Island. Ravi Martin Abraham told that his family had sold this company to Ramu because it is not easy to get permits for new companies. In the year 2025, Ramu registered three more new companies in a single day which included KMS Integrated, GM Integrated and HVS Industries.

Manpower Ministry’s action
Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower has indicated that it is closely investigating KPA Engineering and SK Industries for gross violations of regulations. Authorities, trade unions and all major worker groups in India and Singapore are working together to provide full support to these affected workers. Continuous action is being taken by the investigating agencies to find out the people responsible in this entire matter and to provide the workers with their full rights.
