Sleemanabad Tunnel to be inaugurated soon, irrigation facilities will increase in 14 districts, CM Mohan Yadav reviewed, gave instructions to officials

On Thursday, a review meeting of Water Resources and Narmada Valley Development Department was organized under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The Chief Minister has given instructions for necessary preparations for the inauguration of the Sleemanabad Tunnel connecting the Amrit Dhara of Narmada with the Son River. Instructions have also been given to complete the irrigation projects under construction on time.

Preparations have been made for the inauguration of irrigation projects whose work has been completed in 14 districts this year. In the next 6 months, various projects to increase irrigation facilities in about 6 lakh hectare area will be inaugurated.

It was told in the meeting that the irrigation projects that will be inaugurated in the Krishi Kalyan year include irrigation projects of Barwani, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Jhabua, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Alirajpur, Rajgarh, Jabalpur, Katni and Mandla districts. The progress of work on three projects related to Simhastha was also reviewed in the meeting.

Ken-Mandakini Link Interstate Irrigation Project proposal sent to Center

It was informed in the meeting that the proposal for Ken-Mandakini Link Interstate Irrigation Project has been sent to the Government of India. This project will develop irrigation capacity in 93 thousand 310 hectare area and 15.8 MW electricity can be generated. A 20 kilometer long tunnel will also be built in the project. The cost of the project will be more than Rs 8400 crore.

Under this project, 130 MW energy will be produced along with annual irrigation of 8.11 lakh hectares in ten districts of Bundelkhand region. 90 percent payment has been made by passing the award under the special package for land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement in the project. The work of Chakarpur and Madiya dams in Bina Complex Multipurpose Project has been completed. In the modified Parvati Kali Sindh Chambal interstate river linking project, 6.16 lakh hectare area of ​​13 districts will get irrigation facility. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the works of Fourth Dam Project (Chhindwara Irrigation Complex) and other projects.

Progress in works of projects related to Simhastha

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also took information about the works of the projects to be completed for the purpose of organizing Simhastha. 82% work of Sewarkhedi-Silarkhedi project has been completed. 66% progress has been made in Kanh Diversion Closed Duct Project. The construction work of 29 km long ghats is going on at a fast pace in order to enable millions of people to take the holy bath in a convenient manner at Simhastha on the Shipra coast. 60% progress has been made in this work also.

Significant increase in irrigation area

It was told in the meeting that the irrigated area is continuously increasing. If we add the benefits to be received in the near future from the projects constructed and under construction in Madhya Pradesh, then the irrigated area in the state will be 95.45 lakh hectares. Apart from this, if other approved projects are included then this figure will be 108 lakh hectares. Due to rapid completion of works, continuous expansion of irrigation area is being seen. In the last two and a half years, the irrigation area has increased by about 10 lakh hectares.
