Venezuela Earthquake: India’s ‘Operation Amistad’, sent special army medical team, ‘Bhishma Cube’; Agra’s para unit will take charge

Delhi / Caracas. The devastating ‘doublet’ earthquake in northern Venezuela has caused massive devastation, in which 589 people have died so far and more than 3,000 are injured. In this hour of crisis, India, as always, has extended a helping hand by reiterating its sentiment of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the whole world is one family).

The Government of India has launched ‘Operation Amistad’ for relief and rescue operations in Venezuela, under which a special medical team of the Indian Army has been dispatched. The Indian Army expressed its condolences to Venezuela on social media, writing, “We share your grief. We are with you.”

According to the information given by the Army, a highly skilled team of 41 members from 60 Para Field Hospital has been sent to Venezuela through two special aircraft of the Air Force. This team includes 9 experienced medical officers. The team is fully capable of providing emergency medical care, trauma management, complex surgeries and critical care. The medical team has taken with it about 6 tonnes of life-saving medicines, medical equipment and humanitarian aid items.

Indigenous ‘Bhishma Cube’ will become the Messiah in disaster.

The biggest feature of this entire mission is the completely indigenously developed ‘BHISHM Cube’ under India’s ‘Arogya Maitri Project’. It is a state-of-the-art and fast-to-install modular field hospital.

It can be ready in a disaster area in just a few minutes and provide advanced trauma care, emergency surgery and intensive care (ICU) facilities to up to 200 patients. In times of crisis, it will prove to be a lifeline for serious patients being pulled out from the debris.

‘Operation Amistad’ has been launched for relief operations in Venezuela. Meanwhile, Agra Military Station in Uttar Pradesh and its specialized medical wing (Para Field Hospital Network) have also been put on special alert for backup of this global humanitarian assistance and upcoming strategic cooperation.

This is the world’s first disaster management modular field hospital, which is extremely small, portable and waterproof. It can be easily carried anywhere.

In earthquake-ravaged debris areas where large hospitals have been destroyed, this cube transforms into a state-of-the-art mini-hospital in just minutes.

This single cube can simultaneously provide advanced trauma care, critical care (ICU) and emergency surgery to 200 critical patients. It has all the facilities like ventilator, X-ray machine and mini-lab in-built.

Agra wing’s role is important

A 41-member team of ’60 Para Field Hospital’ of the Indian Army has flown to Venezuela in two special aircraft of the Air Force. This team includes 9 senior medical officers, who are experts in trauma care and critical surgery. This team has taken with itself more than 6 tonnes of emergency medicines.

The Para Troopers of the Indian Army and their medical wing have a deep connection with Agra (Para Training School – PTS). According to sources, the Agra-based Army medical experts and the core team of Para Commandos have been instructed to be ready for the next phase of this mission or any emergency backup. Agra Military Base is considered a major center for logistics and training support in such international operations.

People and administration of Agra have their eyes on the mission

Venezuela is located on the active boundary of the Caribbean and South American tectonic plates, which is why such devastating earthquakes often occur there. Currently, Venezuela’s acting President Delsey Rodriguez is working closely with international rescue teams. In such a situation, the readiness of India’s military and medical networks linked to Bhishma Cube and Agra reflects India’s growing humanitarian influence across the world.
