Lili Reinhart, Tom Bateman spark chemistry in ‘The Love Hypothesis’ teaser
Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman pair on-screen in the first teaser for The Love Hypothesis, offering a glance into their chemistry.
Announced during Obsessed Fest, the teaser introduces the romantic comedy’s science-inspired premise through cinematic visuals and a voiceover that draws parallels between chemistry and human relationships.
“The universe is built on trying to find order through connection,” the narrator says. “Molecules stay in motion, vibrating and colliding until they find a match, and when the do, something miraculous happens…”
“They form a bond!”
The footage then shifts to Olive, played by Reinhart, as she attempts to convince her friend Ahn, portrayed by Rachel Marsh, to pursue her crush Jeremy, played by Nicholas Duvernay.
“I’m seeing someone,” Olive tells Ahn in the lab after realising Ahn has developed feelings for Jeremy.
“Like a therapist?” Ahn asks.
“No, like a human man,” Olive replies.
Based on the bestselling novel by Ali Hazelwood, The Love Hypothesis follows Olive, a brilliant Ph.D. candidate whose impulsive kiss with intimidating professor Adam Carlsen, played by Bateman, sets off a fake-dating arrangement that changes her time at Stanford University.
The teaser closes with the narrator returning to ask, “Isn’t science fun?”, reinforcing the film’s blend of romance and academic humour.
Directed by Claire Scanlon from a screenplay by Sarah Rothschild, the adaptation is produced by Elizabeth Cantillon.
The Love Hypothesis begins streaming on Prime Video on September 23.
