Modi fed Jonathan the tortoise in Seychelles, planted saplings with the President!
Prime Minister Modi enthusiastically fed giant tortoises in the Botanical Garden. These included 194-year-old Jonathan, who is believed to be the world’s oldest living terrestrial animal.
During this, Prime Minister Modi and President Harmini also planted a sapling in the garden. After this he met the employees there. The staff gave them information about the plants and wildlife of the Botanical Garden.
Prime Minister Modi reached Seychelles on Saturday afternoon. He has gone to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the country’s National Day as the chief guest. The purpose of this visit is also to further strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
President Patrick Harmini, several senior ministers and other senior officials themselves reached the airport to welcome Prime Minister Modi. This was a special welcome given in his honour. Prime Minister Modi was welcomed with cultural programs at the airport. These also included a traditional dance of Kutch.

Seychelles is an important maritime partner and close friend of ours in the Indian Ocean region. I am confident that this visit will strengthen the relations between the two countries and increase cooperation in the interest of our people.”
