Ahead of the official launch, the company has released some important teasers and information, giving a glimpse of the electric SUV’s design, features and potential range. Modernizing the iconic Sierra name, Tata is bringing the SUV into the premium electric segment.

Tata Sierra EV will be launched in India in a few days. An official launch event will take place on Tuesday, June 30, where details about its specifications and powertrain will be revealed. However, before the launch, an important information has been leaked. According to reports, the entry-level ‘Pure’ variant of the Sierra EV could be offered with a 65kWh battery pack borrowed from the Tata Harrier EV. This battery can help give this electric SUV improved range and performance. The complete details of the remaining variants and features will be announced after the launch.

Tata Sierra EV Battery

The Tata Harrier EV will be available in two battery pack options. 65kWh and 75kWh. Both RWD and AWD drivetrain options are available. A 65kWh battery is mated to a rear-wheel drive motor, which produces an estimated 238bhp and 315Nm of torque. This variant offers a range of approximately 538km on a single charge.

Sierra EV drive options

The Tata Sierra EV will be slightly smaller in size and lighter in weight than the Harrier EV. Hence, it is believed to be able to offer slightly more range even using the same battery. The teaser also reveals that the Sierra EV will be available with QWD or AWD drive options, but this feature is likely to be available only in the top-spec models. The higher variant may have a larger 75kWh battery pack and a dual motor setup. The same setup in the Harrier EV produces around 313bhp and 540Nm of torque, giving a range of approximately 622 km.

Care taken for safety

In terms of design, the Sierra EV will be similar to the ICE model, but there will be some changes. These include a closed grille, new front bumper, gloss finish and 19-inch alloy wheels. It will also be quite advanced in terms of features. It will have safety features like triple-screen setup, ventilated and power seats, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, premium audio system, drive modes, multiple airbags and level-2 ADAS.
