PM Modi Seychelles Visit: PM Modi’s big message in Seychelles, boosted India’s ocean initiative, said – ‘Indian Ocean is a shared home’

New Delhi: Speaking on the security and prosperity of the Indian Ocean region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is the common home of all the member countries. PM Modi stressed India’s ‘Oceans’ initiative in a joint press conference after a meeting with Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminy on Sunday. He said that the security, stability and sustainable development of this region is the common responsibility of every country. Under this, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) will be implemented in Seychelles. PM Modi said that this will reduce the distance between the two countries and trade will become easier.

PM received the highest honor

PM Modi was awarded the highest honor of Seychelles. The meeting coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the golden jubilee year of Seychelles’ independence. Seychelles honored Prime Minister Modi with the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ award for his leadership in environmental protection and sustainable development.

Introduction of UPI

An MoU was signed to promote economic and digital connectivity between the two countries. Under this, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) will be implemented in Seychelles. PM Modi said that this will reduce the distance between the two countries and trade will become easier.

The Prime Minister said that the Indian Ocean should be made an ocean of opportunities. This is the objective of the ‘Mahasagar’ initiative. He said that steps will be taken to strengthen air and sea connectivity between India and Seychelles. This connectivity will not only enhance bilateral trade but will also be a key gateway for India to strengthen strategic relations with the East African region.

50 years of unwavering trust

Describing people-to-people relations as the biggest strength between the two countries, PM Modi said that in the last five decades, India and Seychelles have transformed their friendship into deep trust and trust into public welfare cooperation. Expressing his gratitude on receiving the highest civilian honour, he called it an honor for every Indian and said that India is fully committed to building a safe, prosperous and green Indian Ocean.
