Srinagar: A major road accident took place on Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route on Sunday afternoon. The Matador carrying CSSF personnel deployed under the protection of the Shrine Board went out of control and overturned while coming from Tarakot to Katra.
Suddenly the balance got disturbed, there was no chance to recover.
According to media reports, the accident occurred when Matador was returning from Tarakot to Katra. Suddenly the driver lost control and the car overturned on the road. The accident was so sudden that the soldiers did not even get a chance to recover. 13 to 14 soldiers were injured in this. The condition of three soldiers is said to be critical.
Local people helped, relief team reached immediately
As soon as information about the incident was received, police, Shrine Board officials and relief teams reached the spot. Local people also helped in removing the injured from the vehicle. All the injured were immediately taken to Sub-District Hospital Katra.
Three soldiers referred to GMC Jammu
According to hospital sources, first aid was given to 13-14 injured. When the condition of three soldiers became critical, they were referred to GMC Jammu for better treatment. The remaining soldiers are being treated at Katra Hospital. The team of doctors is continuously monitoring.
Investigation into the cause of the accident begins
According to initial information, the reason is believed to be the vehicle being out of control. But investigation has been started to find out the real reason. Be it technical fault, road condition or any other reason, all aspects are being looked into.
