Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today reiterated that Shri Akal Takht Sahib is the supreme religious institution of the Sikh community. Along with this, he said that all the ministers and MLAs, including the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, summoned by Shri Akal Takht Sahib, will be present there on Monday and will humbly present the state government’s side. The Chief Minister said that every order of Shri Akal Takht Sahib will be considered supreme and will be followed with full devotion and devotion.
CM Mann gave a big statement
The Chief Minister said that the government will also hand over all the details related to the fake video of the person imitating him to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The Chief Minister said that the opposition parties are trying to take political advantage by giving a religious color to this issue. He made it clear that politics and religion should never be mixed with each other. He also appealed to the Maharashtra government not to interfere in the religious matters of the Sikhs.
While interacting with the media along with Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal at Sri Amritsar Sahib, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the center of supreme faith for every Sikh and the highest throne of our community. Every order issued from there is accepted by us with full respect and will be followed in letter and spirit. All our ministers, MLAs and Speaker of Punjab Assembly, who have been summoned by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, will be present there on Monday. As a humble Sikh, he will clarify the government’s position and present his side before Sri Akal Takht Sahib."
The Chief Minister said, "For me Sri Akal Takht Sahib is supreme. Every order received from there will be followed in letter and spirit. The order of Takht Sahib has always been, is and will always be of paramount importance for me and my family. The proof of my devotion is that when I was first called by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, I even skipped a program of the President of India to be present there."
He said, "But when politically appointed people in religious positions start taking unilateral decisions to please their political masters, then naturally questions arise. The Shiromani Committee has now ordered to put up posters of my social boycott outside the Gurudwaras, but why were such posters never put up against the Shiromani Akali Dal or Sukhbir Badal, when they themselves had accepted responsibility for the incidents of sacrilege?"
The Chief Minister said, "On 2 December, Sukhbir Badal and his associates appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and admitted their mistakes, confessed to the crimes, took responsibility for the firing incidents and also admitted that orders had been issued against the Sangat. At that time, had anyone put up posters of his boycott outside the Gurudwaras, as is being done against me today? The company is wise and the public is supreme. My opponents are taking such steps because there is no real issue against me now."
The Chief Minister said, "Whenever I go to villages, social programs and public meetings, I get huge public support. Opposition parties are unable to tolerate this because they themselves are unable to garner such public support. Due to their disappointment with this strong support, they have started making baseless allegations against me. The people of Punjab will never accept such politics."
He said, "BJP, Congress and Akali Dal want to take political advantage by defaming me religiously, whereas I am only working in the interest of the people on issues like employment, water, electricity, health, education and overall development."
In response to a question, the Chief Minister said, "The state government will soon write a letter to Jathedar Sahib explaining how a fake video of a person imitating me was used to tarnish my image. The letter is being finalized. The further strategy will be considered after our ministers and MLAs present themselves before Sri Akal Takht Sahib. In Sikhism the Sangat is supreme and every decision will be taken according to its wishes, because the Sangat is fully capable of judging every decision."
