Five members of a family were killed after their speeding car rammed into a stationary container truck on the Samruddhi Highway near the Dhamangaon Railway area in Maharashtra’s Amravati district on Sunday, officials said.

According to officials, the accident occurred when the car, travelling at high speed along the expressway, collided with a stationary container truck. The impact of the crash was severe, resulting in the deaths of all five occupants of the vehicle.

Emergency services rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident. Police and rescue personnel carried out rescue operations and recovered the bodies from the mangled vehicle. The victims were later sent for post-mortem examination.

Officials said the deceased were members of the same family. However, their identities had not been officially released at the time of reporting, pending notification of their relatives.

The accident took place near the Dhamangaon Railway stretch of the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamargone of the state’s major expressways connecting Nagpur and Mumbai.

Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to the collision. Preliminary information indicates that the car crashed into a stationary container truck, though officials have not yet disclosed why the truck was parked on the highway or whether any mechanical failure or other factors contributed to the incident.

Authorities are also examining the condition of the vehicle and gathering evidence from the accident site as part of the investigation. Traffic movement in the area was temporarily affected while rescue teams cleared the wreckage from the expressway.
