India became victim of Ireland’s upset, lost the T20 series after losing the second match by 1 run.

The second T20 match between India and Ireland was played on 28 June at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast. After facing defeat in the first match, the Indian team could not win the second match also. Ireland won the match by 25 runs and with this won the two-match T20 series 2-0.

 

This is the first time in the history of T20 cricket that India has faced defeat in a T20 series against Ireland. Indian bowlers bowled well in the match and prevented the opposition team from scoring big but the batsmen could not perform as per expectations. No batsman could play a big innings, due to which the team had to suffer defeat.

Let us tell you that the first match of this two-match T20 series was also won by Ireland by 34 runs. With a 25-run win in the second match, Ireland created history and won its first T20 series against India.

After losing the toss, Ireland had to come out to bat first. The team had a very slow start and could not increase the run rate much throughout the innings. In the powerplay, Ireland scored 44 runs after losing 2 wickets. After this, the team lost 3 more wickets in the middle overs and could add only 70 runs. Even in the death overs, Ireland lost 3 wickets but somehow scored 40 runs. Due to this, the team could reach 154 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Harry Tector played the highest innings of 53 runs for Ireland. Apart from him, Ben Calitz scored 37 runs. On behalf of India, Prince Yadav bowled brilliantly and took maximum 3 wickets. Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dubey took 2 wickets each, while Harshit Rana got 1 wicket.

India’s innings

The Indian team, which set out to chase the target, did not have a good start at all. The team lost 4 wickets in the power play itself and could score only 41 runs. After this, not much wickets fell in the middle overs but the pace of scoring remained very slow. Between 7 and 15 overs, the team lost 1 wicket and added only 63 runs.

 

In the death overs, Indian batsmen tried to score runs quickly but the process of falling wickets did not stop. Between 16 and 20 overs, the team scored 49 runs after losing 4 wickets. Ultimately, India’s entire innings was reduced to 153 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs and Ireland won this thrilling match by 1 run.

For India, Tilak Verma played the highest innings of 55 runs. Apart from him, Harshit Rana scored 21 runs, while Shivam Dubey contributed 20 runs. For Ireland, Jai Mundhra and Matt Hollard took 3-3 wickets. Whereas Matthew Humphries and Harry Tector got 1-1 success. Ishan Kishan returned to the pavilion after being run out.
