Will tension increase again in the Middle East? Iran’s foreign minister gave a big threat

New Delhi: After the initial peace agreement was signed with America, conflict and tension over the Strait of Hormuz seems to be increasing once again in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has issued a major threat on Sunday (June 28, 2026) regarding the Strait of Hormuz. He said that if any attempt is made to challenge Iran’s control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz in any way, it will further increase tension in the region, while talks are still going on to end the war in the Middle East.

Iranian Foreign Minister’s big shout from Baghdad

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is on a visit to Iraq’s capital Baghdad, said while addressing a press conference, ‘If any attempt is made by the Islamic Republic of Iran to adopt a new or different system in place of the system currently in force, it will make the current situation even more difficult, delay the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and will also increase tensions further, as we have seen in the last two nights.’ Tehran’s top diplomat has appealed to all parties to strictly adhere to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and not let it deviate from its stated objectives, as the two sides have seen renewed attacks on each other in recent days.

  • Iran closed Hormuz only after the attack on 28th February.

Immediately after the US and Israel jointly launched the bombing campaign against Iran on February 28, 2026, Iran started the blockade of its strategic Strait of Hormuz. The objective of this bombing campaign was said to be to destabilize the Iranian regime and destroy its ballistic missile and nuclear programs. On the other hand, due to the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, there was a sharp rise in global energy prices.

Movement of ships increased through the strait after signing of MoU

Although the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz has increased after the signing of the MoU between Iran and the US earlier this month, it is still much lower than the situation before the start of the war. At the same time, Iran has once again openly threatened that without its permission no ship should enter or exit the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, but despite this, the movement of ships continues continuously and the ships are using a route which has not been authorized by Tehran.
