Maharashtra Weather Today : Heavy rain in Maharashtra! Meteorological Department has issued an alert to these 24 districts.
As Monsoon has reactivated in Maharashtra, the Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued a yellow alert for 24 districts including Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra. Thunderstorms along with gales have been warned for the next 48 to 72 hours.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department (IMD), 24 districts of Maharashtra are likely to experience heavy rains with thundershowers and gale-force winds in the next 48 to 72 hours. Monsoon has become fully active in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha and alert ‘Yellow’ and ‘Orange’ alerts have been issued.
What did the weather department say?
Gusty winds with a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour are expected during the next 48 to 72 hours. Heavy rains are expected in Mumbai, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and some parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha. An ‘orange alert’ has been issued for heavy rains in the districts of Satara, Latur, Dharashiv, Yavatmal and Chandrapur along with parts of Pune.
- Konkan and Mumbai: Mumbai along with Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri are likely to experience light to moderate rains with heavy showers at some places. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
- Western Maharashtra: Cloudy weather will prevail in Pune and light to moderate rain is expected. There is a possibility of heavy rain over the ghats in Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur areas.
- North and Vidarbha: Rain with thundershowers will occur over Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Ahilyanagar, Amravati, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Akola and Wardha.
Citizens have been warned to be alert as gusty winds are likely to blow in these districts.
