RPF pays tribute to bravehearts, reaffirms commitment to families of fallen personnel
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Sunday paid tribute to its personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty during a Retreat Ceremony held at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi. The event marked the closing ceremony of a series of programmes organised by the force to honour its martyrs and reaffirm its commitment to their families.
Addressing the gathering, Railway Protection Force Director General AN Sinha said the ceremony was dedicated to remembering RPF personnel across the country who had made the supreme sacrifice while performing their duties.
“Today, a ‘Retreat Ceremony’, which serves as the closing ceremony, was organised at the National Police Memorial grounds as part of the RPF’s tribute to its martyrs,” Sinha said.
He said the ceremony was intended not only to honour the courage and sacrifice of fallen personnel but also to reassure their families that the force continues to stand firmly with them.
“We want to reassure their families, whether it is a husband, a son, or a child who has passed away, that we stand with them,” the RPF chief said.
According to Sinha, the occasion also provides an opportunity for the force to identify and resolve any issues faced by the families of deceased personnel. He said the initiative sends a strong message that the RPF remains committed to supporting the next of kin of its martyrs beyond ceremonial tributes.
The Retreat Ceremony was attended by senior RPF officers, serving personnel and family members of fallen bravehearts. Floral tributes were paid at the National Police Memorial in remembrance of those who laid down their lives while safeguarding railway passengers, railway property and national infrastructure.
The RPF, which functions under the Ministry of Railways, is responsible for ensuring the security of railway property, passenger areas and railway operations across one of the world’s largest rail networks.
Officials said the annual tribute reflects the force’s continued emphasis on recognising the service and sacrifice of its personnel while strengthening institutional support for the families they leave behind.
The ceremony concluded with a solemn tribute to the martyrs, reaffirming the RPF’s commitment to preserving their legacy and ensuring that their families continue to receive assistance and support whenever required.
