RSS Home Minister of Karnataka due to statements made against Priyank Kharge And Youth Congress leader Mohammad Nalpad has been summoned. The Bangalore court has issued the summons on June 27 and has asked for a reply by July 21. A criminal defamation complaint was filed regarding Priyank’s comments against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS); After hearing the complaint, the court issued the summons. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sandeep Patil observed that prima facie case of criminal defamation under Section 356 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) appears against Priyank Kharge and Nalpad.

In its order, the court said, “An offense punishable under Section 356 of BNS, 2023 has been taken against Accused No. 1 Priyank Kharge and Accused No. 3 Mohammad Nalpad. The office is directed to register the same as a criminal case and to issue summons to Accused No. 1 and 3 and ask them to submit their reply by July 21, 2026.” However, the court refused to take action against former Karnataka minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.

This petition was filed by Bangalore resident and RSS worker A. Filed by Tejas. He alleged that the accused had made several defamatory statements in October 2025 targeting the RSS and its members. According to the complaint, Priyank Kharge, while a minister, wrote a letter to the Karnataka government on October 4, 2025, demanding that the RSS be barred from using government playgrounds, schools and colleges. The complainant alleged that the letter was deliberately given to the media and shared on Kharge’s social media platform with the intention of defaming the institution.

Complaint mentions social media posts

The complaint also mentions alleged social media posts made by Kharge on October 13 and 14 last year. One post said, “Never befriend an RSS member, not just a friend, even if they are a family member. They are basically abusive or rude people.” The court has sought a reply from minister Priyank Kharge and Youth Congress leader Mohammad Nalpad by July 21. However, when asked about the court proceedings, Minister Priyank Kharge refused to comment.
