Good news for central employees, will salary double with this formula?

New Delhi. The eyes of lakhs of central government employees and pensioners are now fixed on the 8th Pay Commission. After the implementation of this commission, changes in salary and pension are expected. The thing that is being discussed the most is the fitment factor. This factor will decide how much the new basic salary of the employees can increase.

What is fitment factor?

Fitment factor is a multiplier on the basis of which the old salary is converted into the new pay structure. If understood in simple language, the new basic salary is decided after multiplying the current basic salary by the fitment factor. This is the reason why fitment factor is being considered most important in the 8th Pay Commission.

Salary of basic people is Rs 18 thousand?

If the current basic salary of a central employee is Rs 18,000 and the fitment factor is fixed at 2.10, then the new basic salary can be around Rs 37,800. If the 3.83 fitment factor demanded by the employee organizations is implemented, then the basic salary can reach approximately Rs 68,940.

Impact on employees at different levels

A big impact of fitment factor can be seen even at different levels of the pay matrix.

Level-6 Employees: The current basic salary is around Rs 35,400. According to 2.10 fitment factor, it can be around Rs 74,340, while according to 3.83, it can reach around Rs 1.35 lakh.

Level-10 Officer: The current basic salary is around Rs 56,100. On the basis of 2.10, it can be around Rs 1.17 lakh and on the basis of 3.83, it can be more than Rs 2 lakh.

Level-18 Officer: The current basic salary at this level is around Rs 2.50 lakh. It is estimated to be around Rs 5.25 lakh at 2.10 fitment factor and around Rs 9.57 lakh when 3.83 is implemented.

Why do employees have high expectations?

The 8th Pay Commission is expected to take into account inflation and current expenses while making changes in the pay structure. Employee organizations have been demanding improvements in salaries and allowances for a long time. Increasing the fitment factor will not only increase the basic salary, but may also affect many allowances related to it.

final decision still pending

At present there has been no official announcement regarding the fitment factor. Only after the final decision is taken by the government, it will be clear how much will be the actual change in the salaries of the employees. After the implementation of the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission, this can prove to be a big change for lakhs of central employees and pensioners of the country.
