Matthew Strazel Joins Anadolu Efes in Major EuroLeague Move

Anadolu Efes have officially signed French guard Matthew Strazel, strengthening their backcourt ahead of the 2026-27 EuroLeague season. The 22-year-old arrives from AS Monaco after spending four successful years with the French club.

Efes confirmed that Strazel has signed a 2+1-year contract, with the option to extend the deal for a third season. Reports indicate that the Turkish club also paid a significant buyout to secure the talented playmaker, who was still under contract with Monaco.

Strazel leaves Monaco after playing a key role in the club’s rise as one of the EuroLeague’s top teams. During the 2025-26 EuroLeague season, he averaged 9.2 points and 3.9 assists per game, earning praise for his scoring ability, playmaking, and defensive intensity. One of his standout performances came against ASVEL, where he recorded 22 points and six assists in a memorable victory.

The French international has developed into one of Europe’s brightest young guards thanks to his quickness, basketball IQ, and ability to perform in high-pressure moments. His arrival gives Anadolu Efes another dynamic ball-handler as the club looks to return to the top of the EuroLeague after an inconsistent campaign last season.

For Monaco, Strazel’s departure marks the end of an important chapter. He helped the club win multiple domestic trophies and establish itself among Europe’s elite during his four-year spell in the Principality.

With the addition of Matthew Strazel, Anadolu Efes continue to reshape their roster and strengthen their championship ambitions. The young French guard is expected to play a major role in the team’s backcourt rotation as they prepare for another highly competitive EuroLeague season.
