Delhi Cabinet Clears EV Policy 2026; Rollout From July 1

New Delhi: The Delhi Cabinet has approved the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026, with rollout set for July 1, 2026. The policy will remain in force till March 31, 2030, and aims to make Delhi a “pollution-free city” by phasing out conventional fuel vehicles.

Key timelines:

From April 1, 2028 – Only electric two-wheelers will be registered in Delhi. Registration of new petrol and CNG two-wheelers will be stopped.

From January 1, 2027 – Only electric autorickshaws will be registered.

Incentives for buyers:

Electric cars up to ₹30 lakh: 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees.

E-two-wheelers: Subsidy of ₹30,000 in Year 1, ₹20,000 in Year 2, and ₹10,000 in Year 3.

E-three-wheelers: ₹50,000, ₹40,000 and ₹30,000 across three years.

N1 electric trucks: Purchase incentive up to ₹1 lakh.

Scrapping benefit: ₹1 lakh for owners of BS-IV four-wheelers or older who scrap and switch to EVs.

Announcing the policy, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said around ₹15,000 crore will be invested over four years to expand charging infrastructure, set up vehicle scrapping facilities, and promote e-mobility.
