Kwid Facelift: After 10 years, Renault Kwid will get a new look and updated cabin, know details

Kwid Facelift: Renault India is preparing to give the second major facelift to its entry-level hatchback Kwid, almost a decade after its launch. The facelifted model was first spotted testing on Indian roads last year. It is believed that the design of the new Kwid will be inspired by the Dacia Spring sold in Europe and the Renault Kwid E-Tech electric car introduced in Brazil. Will get new and more modern exterior

According to the spy pictures, the front look of the new Kwid will look more straightforward and attractive than before. It will retain the split headlamp setup like the current model, but a new Y-shaped lighting signature can be seen in the LED daytime running lights (DRLs).

The main headlamps will be placed at the bottom of the bumper, while the front grille will be thinner and simpler in design than before. Apart from this, air vents can also be provided in the bumper, which will help in engine cooling.

Changes in side and rear design also
The side profile is likely to retain the new alloy wheel design and the existing lift-style door handles. At the rear, Y-shaped LED elements can also be seen in the taillights, which will make the car look more modern.

Cabin will be more premium than before

  • Many major changes can also be seen in the interior of the new Kwid. The testing model featured a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and a newly designed instrument cluster.
  • Like Dacia Spring and Kwid E-Tech available in the global market, the Indian model is also expected to get a larger touchscreen, digital instrument display and a new dashboard layout. However, the company has not yet officially confirmed these features.

No change expected in engine
Mechanically, there is no possibility of any major changes in the new Kwid. It will only get the existing 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The choice of 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox for transmission is expected to continue as before.

Who will compete with?
The new Renault Kwid will primarily compete with the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 in the Indian entry-level hatchback segment. Currently, there is no direct rival car from Hyundai and Tata Motors in this segment, so the competition between Kwid and Alto K10 is likely to be interesting.
