EV Policy Delhi: New electric vehicle policy approved in Delhi, huge discount of up to Rs 1 lakh will be available on buying EV

New EV Policy Delhi Rules: Under the new rules, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has given her approval to the new electric vehicle policy. This big step has been taken to reduce pollution and promote EVs in the capital. This new policy will be fully applicable from July 1, 2026 to March 31, 2030.

Under this new scheme, the government will provide huge financial assistance to customers purchasing electric vehicles. The government is going to spend a big budget of total Rs 15 thousand crore to promote EV. Its objective is to make Delhi clean and free people from petrol and diesel vehicles.

Discount on two-wheeler and three-wheeler

Under this scheme, those purchasing electric two-wheelers will get a subsidy of Rs 30,000 in the first year. A huge discount of Rs 20 thousand will be given in the second year and Rs 10 thousand in the third year. For three-wheeler, there will be a profit of Rs 50 thousand in the first year, Rs 30 thousand in the second and Rs 20 thousand in the third year.

Benefit of one lakh on electric car

If you buy a fully electric car priced below Rs 30 lakh, you will get a big discount. Such customers will be provided a huge incentive of Rs 1 lakh directly by the government. Along with this, 100% complete rebate in road tax and registration fees will also be available on these new cars.

Profit on scrapping old vehicles

Under the new policy, there will be huge benefit in scrapping four-wheelers with old BS-IV engines. You will get a huge subsidy of Rs 1 lakh on scrapping your old car and buying a new electric car. But no discount will be given by the government on purchasing hybrid or petrol-diesel vehicles.

Petrol two-wheeler discontinued from 2028

In the policy, special emphasis has been laid on the transport sector and many strict rules have also been implemented. After January 1, 2027, only new registration of e-rickshaw will be accepted in Delhi. Apart from this, after April 1, 2028, two-wheelers running on petrol and CNG will not be registered.

New goal of charging stations

Currently, there are 1,919 charging stations and 2,452 charging points within the capital Delhi. Under the new policy, the government has set a big target of installing 32 thousand new charging points in the entire city. A total of Rs 8 thousand crore will be spent on infrastructure and huge tax subsidies in the next 4 years.
