Toyota Hilux New Gen: What will be special in exterior and design?
The new generation HiLux has been built on Toyota’s ‘Tough and Athletic’ design philosophy. Its front look looks more aggressive and muscular than before. The pickup truck gets a new larger honeycomb front grille and slim LED headlights, which are joined by a black trim panel. Instead of the traditional logo, ‘TOYOTA’ is written in big letters on this panel.
Apart from this, the side profile features wide and thick wheel arches, newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped LED taillights at the rear. Its tailgate has also been redesigned, on which the company’s large badging can be clearly seen. Recently, this vehicle was also spotted during the shooting of an advertisement near Aerocity, Delhi, which confirms its soon launch.
Major upgrade of cabin and features
Compared to the old model of Hilux, the biggest change will be seen in its interior. Now its cabin will give the feel of a premium SUV like Fortuner. The new dashboard layout will have twin 12.3-inch displays, one of which will be a digital instrument cluster and the other a touchscreen infotainment system.
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
- Ventilated and powered front seats.
- Wireless phone charging pad and dual-zone automatic climate control.
- Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and 360-degree camera for safety.
How powerful will the new hybrid engine be?
Talking about engine capacity, the existing 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine will remain intact in the new Hilux. However, this time the biggest mechanical change will be seen in its powertrain. Toyota can add 48V mild-hybrid technology (Neo Drive) to it like the Fortuner. This system will improve the mileage of the vehicle and help in generating better torque at low speeds.
This engine generates maximum power of 204 PS and peak torque of 500 Nm. For transmission, it will have the option of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic torque converter. For off-roading enthusiasts, it will be offered with 4X4 (four-by-four) drive system in standard or top variants, which will include modern features like electronic locking differential and multi-terrain select.
“The new generation HiLux made its global debut late last year and India is one of the first markets where it is being introduced in just 8 months. The vehicle comes with the most comfortable and eco-friendly mild-hybrid option in its segment.”
