Yamaha EC-06: Launched in India with 169Km range and 79kmph top speed, know
Yamaha EC-06: : While on one hand companies like Ola and Ather dominate the Indian two-wheeler market, on the other hand Japanese automaker Yamaha is also all set to strengthen its foothold in the electric segment. In this context, a very popular and tough scooter of Yamaha is in the news, whose name is Yamaha EC-06. This is not a common electric scooter, rather it has been developed by Yamaha in collaboration with Taiwan’s famous EV company ‘Gogoro’. Let us understand in simple and straightforward paragraphs what is special about this scooter that makes it different from other scooters.
Swappable Battery Technology
The biggest and strongest feature of Yamaha EC-06 is its Gogoro Swappable Battery Technology. This means that you do not need to charge this scooter by plugging it in for hours at home or office. As soon as your scooter’s battery is about to die, you can go to the nearest battery swapping station, insert your discharged battery into the machine and within just 6 seconds, take out the fully charged battery and put it in your scooter and move on. This technology is a boon for those who do not have space to install charging setups in flats or apartments.
Look, Design and Performance
In terms of design, Yamaha, as always, has given this scooter a very futuristic and sporty look. Its stance is a bit muscular, and the sharp LED headlamp setup at the front gives it a unique identity on the roads. Talking about performance, it has a powerful electric motor of about 6.4 kW, which provides it tremendous torque and pickup. This scooter can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in just 3.9 seconds and its top speed is around 90 kmph, which is perfect for city driving.
Range and advanced features
Once the full battery is swapped or charged, the Yamaha EC-06 comfortably gives a range of about 100 to 119 kilometers, which is enough for your daily commute. Even in terms of features, this scooter is completely hi-tech; It has a fully digital LCD instrument cluster, which you can connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Apart from this, it has key-less entry, app-based navigation, riding modes and Combined Braking System (CBS) with hard disc brakes for safety.

Launch in India and our decision
Yamaha has already proven this scooter to be a superhit in international markets (especially Taiwan), and in India too, the company is testing charging and swapping infrastructure with its Gogoro partnership. Although its price may be a little on the premium side due to the premium brand and advanced swapping technology, its unique looks, Yamaha’s trust and the convenience of changing the battery in just seconds make it a tough and very practical electric vehicle of the future.
