Syria Buffer Zone: Huge protest against Israeli army in Syria, local people pelted stones in the buffer zone

Israel Syria Buffer Zone Update: The situation has become very tense in Abdin village of southern Syria under the Israeli buffer zone in Syria. Recently there has been a huge uproar between the local people and the Israeli army. Angry Syrian citizens threw rocks on the roads and pelted stones to stop Israeli military vehicles. In response, Israeli soldiers also opened fire to scare the protesters and later shelled the village with artillery.

This entire controversy started with Israel’s occupation of the 245 square kilometer buffer zone monitored by the United Nations. People living in Abdin village say that Israeli soldiers often forcibly enter their homes and scare women and children. Within the last 24 hours, two major incidents of violence have come to light in this area, due to which there is an atmosphere of panic. Due to stalled security talks, a large number of people are being forced to leave their homes and migrate from this border area.

Heavy clashes are taking place continuously

This violent clash in Abdin village was the second major incident of tension within the last 24 hours. Earlier, the Israeli army had made a big claim of killing two gunmen in southern Syria. According to Imad Hassoun, mayor of the Syrian village of Hadar, two unidentified people were killed in the attack on a pickup truck. Israeli soldiers have taken away the bodies of these two unidentified people, which has further increased the anger.

An atmosphere of fear among the villagers

Local resident Mohammed al-Hassan said that Israeli soldiers regularly visit the village in armored vehicles. They roam around the entire village and if people do not open their doors, they forcefully break them and enter inside. This scary action of the soldiers has created a lot of fear among the women and innocent children of the village. Many citizens of Abdin could not return to their homes even on Monday due to fear of artillery shells.

Israeli occupation of buffer zone

Israel took control of this buffer zone after Bashar al-Assad was removed from power in December 2024. Israel says that it is necessary to maintain control of this strategic area to stop terrorist attacks. Former Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has strongly condemned the shelling and demanded Israel to withdraw. Sobhi al-Tawalbi, a 66-year-old farmer, said farmers are unable to access their crops due to military tensions.

Important security talks have come to a standstill

People were hopeful that the security talks to be held in France under the mediation of America would reduce the tension considerably. But at present this important diplomatic dialogue between the two countries has completely stopped, which is disappointing. Due to lack of security, lack of employment and acute shortage of electricity and water, people are migrating rapidly. Syrian citizens say that they are not a threat to anyone and just want to live a peaceful life.
