Qatar says U.S.-Iran technical talks continue, no high-level meeting scheduled in Doha

Qatar on Tuesday said that technical meetings between the United States and Iran have not stoppedwhile clarifying that no high-level meeting between the two countries is currently scheduled in Doha.

Speaking on the status of ongoing diplomatic engagement, Qatari officials said technical-level discussions continue despite the absence of plans for a senior-level meeting between Washington and Tehran.

The clarification comes amid continued diplomatic efforts involving regional mediators following recent developments concerning U.S.-Iran engagement.

According to Qatar, technical meetings remain active as part of the broader negotiation process, although no date has been announced for direct high-level talks in the Qatari capital.

Officials also reiterated Qatar’s position on maritime security, stressing that there should be no impediment to freedom of navigation. The statement comes as international attention remains focused on shipping routes in the Gulf region, particularly around strategic waterways that are vital to global energy supplies and commercial trade.

Qatar did not provide additional details regarding the agenda, participants or timetable for the ongoing technical discussions.

The Gulf state has continued to play an active diplomatic role by facilitating dialogue and maintaining communication channels between parties involved in regional negotiations.

The latest remarks indicate that while political-level engagement has not yet been scheduled, working-level contacts remain in place to support ongoing diplomatic efforts.

No official announcement has been made by either the United States or Iran regarding a future high-level meeting in Doha.

The Qatari statement comes at a time when regional governments and international stakeholders continue to monitor diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and maintaining stability across the Middle East.

Officials did not indicate whether the ongoing technical discussions could pave the way for future political negotiations.

Further updates are expected as diplomatic contacts continue.
