Big success for India! UPI reached another country in Europe

New Delhi. India’s digital payment system Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has now made its mark in many countries of the world. In this series, India has got another big achievement. After France, now UPI service has started in another European country, Greece. This will make digital payments easier for Indians going abroad and people living there.

Following the new arrangement, eligible customers will be able to transact money in Greece through UPI in a fast, secure and convenient manner. This will make the process of international payment simpler than before. Generally, cards or other banking means are used for payments abroad, which sometimes involve higher fees and time. With the advent of UPI, it is expected to provide instant payment facility at low cost.

UPI expansion increasing in Europe

This digital system of India is no longer limited to just the country. Before this many countries have adopted UPI. These include countries like Singapore, United Arab Emirates, France, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Qatar, Cambodia and Seychelles. The reach of India’s digital payments technology has further strengthened after its launch in Greece.

The world trusts India’s technology

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal described the launch of UPI service in Greece as a big achievement for India. He said that the acceptance of Indian digital solutions in the world shows that India’s potential in the field of technology is being recognized at the global level. He described this step as increasing economic cooperation between the two countries.

Emphasis on trade and investment with Greece

During the visit to Greece, strengthening economic relations between India and Greece was also discussed. New investment and business opportunities were discussed between Indian companies and Greek companies. Possibilities of increasing cooperation in manufacturing, infrastructure and other sectors were also emphasized.

This UPI facility started with Eurobank in Greece

The UPI service in Greece was demonstrated at the Eurobank headquarters in Athens. This initiative has been taken forward under the partnership of National Payments Corporation of India International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Eurobank. It is clear from this that India’s digital payment model is now making its place at the global level.
