Big decision regarding property registry in UP, order for e-registration withdrawn; Now the old system will be implemented again
The state government has taken a big decision regarding property registry in Uttar Pradesh. The government has currently withdrawn the order issued on June 4 regarding the implementation of the e-registration system. With this, the process of property registry will once again be conducted under the traditional system as before. After this decision of the government, it is expected that the long-running protest by lawyers, deed writers and document writers across the state will come to an end.
What was the new system of e-registration?
The government had decided to implement the e-registration system with the aim of making the property registry process more digital, transparent and convenient. In this system, a provision was made for registration of certain categories of properties through online medium. The objective was that people would have to make fewer visits to offices and the process could be faster. However, many types of objections started coming to the fore regarding this system from the very beginning.
Why was there protest?
The most opposition against the new system came from deed writers, document writers and lawyers. He said that if people start doing online registration directly, their employment will be adversely affected. Demonstrations and strikes also took place in many districts. His argument was that before implementing the digital system, there should have been a comprehensive discussion with all the parties involved.
What decision did the government take?
In view of the continuous protests and objections of various organizations, the state government has canceled the order of June 4. This means that at present the property registry will be done as per the traditional process in the sub-registrar offices as before. The government says that further strategy will be decided after considering the suggestions of all the stakeholders.
What will be the impact on common people?
After this decision, there will be no major change in the registration process for people buying and selling property. Preparation of documents, verification, presence of witnesses and other formalities will have to be completed as before. Those who were confused about the online process will get relief for the time being.
What could happen next?
Experts believe that the digital system has not ended completely, rather it has been postponed for the time being. There is a possibility that the government may prepare a revised draft after discussion with lawyers, deed writers and other concerned parties. In future, a new system can be implemented while maintaining a balance between technology and traditional system.
At present the old system is in effect
After the latest decision of the government, it has become clear that the process of property registration in Uttar Pradesh will continue as per the old rules. The final decision on the e-registration system will be taken only after extensive deliberations and necessary amendments. While this has brought relief to the protesting organizations, on the other hand the common citizens will not have to face any new changes in the registration process at present.
