Zimbabwe created history, recorded its biggest win by defeating Bangladesh by an innings and 85 runs.

Harare. Zimbabwe created history by defeating Bangladesh by an innings and 85 runs in the only Test match played in Harare. This is Zimbabwe’s biggest win so far in terms of margin of victory in Test cricket. The host team ended the match in the second session on the third day.

The heroes of Zimbabwe’s victory were fast bowlers Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarwa and Newman Nyamahuri. All three bowlers together took a total of 17 wickets in the match and completely destroyed Bangladesh’s batting in both the innings.

Bangladesh was limited to 140 in the first innings
On the first day of the match, Zimbabwe’s bowlers performed brilliantly and bowled out Bangladesh for only 140 runs in the first innings. Newman Nyamahuri produced a career-best performance of 4/61, while Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans took two wickets each.

Zimbabwe scored 410 runs with Innocent Kaiya’s century.
In response, Zimbabwe gave a brilliant display of collective batting. Innocent Kaiya scored 140 runs, scoring the first century of his Test career. Apart from him, Craig Erwin (60) and Wesley Madhevere also made important contributions, due to which Zimbabwe scored 410 runs and took a huge lead of 270 runs.

However, Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam bowled brilliantly and took 7/138 wickets and equaled Shakib Al Hasan (19 times) for taking the most 5 wickets for Bangladesh in Test cricket.

Bangladesh’s batting order did not work even in the second innings
The Bangladeshi team, which started batting on the third day from 230 runs behind, was under pressure from the very beginning. Blessing Muzarabani took advantage of the extra bounce to dismiss Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mominul Haq in quick succession.

After this, captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim put up some struggle, but both could not play big innings. Mushfiqur scored the maximum 34 runs for the team.

Even the middle order batsmen could not stand against the fast bowlers of Zimbabwe. Debutants Amit Hasan and Taijul Islam struggled for some time, but Bangladesh’s innings quickly fell apart as the partnership broke.

In the end, Bangladesh’s second innings was reduced to 185 runs and Zimbabwe registered a historic victory by an innings and 85 runs. Muzarabani took 4 wickets in the second innings, while Richard Ngarawa took 3 wickets.
