Renault And Nissan To Launch 4 New Hybrid SUVs With Largest-In-Segment Battery Packs
Currently, the only 5 affordable strong hybrid cars on sale in India are from Maruti Suzuki, Toyota and Honda. However, in the coming months, we will be seeing the launch of not one but a total of four new strong hybrid cars from Renault and Nissan, which will offer the largest-in-segment battery packs. So, without any delay, here are the details of these upcoming strong hybrid SUVs.
The first vehicle on this list is the Renault Duster Hybrid, and it has already received an overwhelming response. Even before Renault has announced its official pricing, the entire 2026 allocation has been sold out. The company has confirmed that bookings for this year are now closed, and fresh bookings are expected to reopen around Diwali 2026. What’s more interesting is that the hybrid variants account for around 39 percent of Duster bookings in metro cities.
Powering the Duster Hybrid will be a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will come paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output stands at 162 bhp and 172 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Renault claims the SUV will deliver over 25 kmpl.
Apart from the hybrid system, the Duster will also offer premium features like dual digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated powered seats, Level 2 ADAS, a powered tailgate and 48-colour ambient lighting. Prices are expected to range between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 23 lakh.

Renault is also working on the larger Boreal, which will become its new seven-seat SUV. It will share the same CMF-B platform as the Duster but will feature a longer wheelbase and a third row of seats. The biggest highlight of this SUV will be its strong hybrid system. The Boreal Hybrid is expected to use the same 1.8-litre petrol engine, dual electric motors and 1.4 kWh battery pack as the Duster Hybrid. It is expected to launch around six months after the regular Boreal arrives later this year.

Nissan will also soon enter the mid-size SUV segment with the Tekton, and later it will launch the strong hybrid version of this SUV. It too will be based on the same CMF-B platform. However, the Tekton will feature styling inspired by the flagship Nissan Patrol. It will boast a large grille, C-shaped LED DRLs, connected LED tail lamps and chunky body cladding.
On the inside, the SUV will come loaded with features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, an Arkamys audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control and an electronic parking brake.
The hybrid version will use the same 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. This setup produces 162 bhp and 172 Nm and offers amazing fuel efficiency.

Nissan is also working on the development of a seven-seat version of the Tekton. It will feature a longer wheelbase, additional cabin space and a practical third row to take on rivals like the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar.
Mechanically, it will remain identical to the standard Tekton Hybrid, using the same 1.8-litre strong hybrid powertrain with dual electric motors and the segment-leading 1.4 kWh battery pack. The SUV is expected to launch in 2027, with prices likely to fall between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh.
