These include about ten major services including income certificate, caste certificate, residence certificate, status certificate, copy of Khatauni. Accountant plays an important role in timely disposal of these services. In such a situation, their regular availability in the Village Secretariat will reduce the need for the villagers to visit the tehsil repeatedly.
People were troubled due to lack of proper arrangement.
The Board of Revenue has also made it clear in its letter that accountants not only do the work related to certificates, but also act as a strong link in the administrative system. Accountants also perform many important responsibilities like Tehsil Day, Police Station Day, Heritage, Ownership Scheme, Kisan Samman Nidhi, Relief and Rehabilitation, Disaster Management, Settlement of Land Disputes, Agricultural Census, Census, Crop Girdawari, Report of Natural Disasters, Investigation of Illegal Encroachments, Mining Related Verification, Verification related to Public Distribution System and Verification of Paddy-Wheat Purchasing Centres.
Apart from this, reports and verification of accountants are also required in the implementation of schemes run by various departments. At the same time, due to there being no fixed arrangement for the seating of accountants at the Gram Panchayat level, the general public has to face inconvenience.
Many times the villagers have to travel to the tehsil or other places to meet the accountant, which leads to loss of both time and money. With the aim of ending this problem, it has now been decided to ensure regular presence of accountants in village secretariats by making rosters in every district.
